hehe I just had a flashback too about koh phangan, I was partying at exactly the same location (I also think it was Tommy's ressort) and I also thought the rest of FM was just baaaaad.

but I still have the pictures of the sunrise the next morning in front of this sound system, was one of the greatest moments of my life.

Yes mate, I know this place! Actually 4 years ago me and some friends from the UK organized 2 Partys at Serendipity Beach at Sihanoukville. The first one was only a one night party with maybe 100 people, but the second one lastet for 3 nights and attracted about 400. The cool thing about partys in Cambodia is, that you dont have any troubles with the police. You pay them in advance and you have no problems
Two of my friends even played at the Viatnamese Embassy (You have to imagine this!!!!) at a small private (but not real psy).
Besides the lack of normal tourist hordes is as well a great reason for making partys down there. The young people are extremly friendly and cool and party hard with the travellers.
Its now 2 years ago that i travelled to Cambodia for the last time, so i dont know how it is now, but if it evolved in this way go there and you have defenately a lot of fun!!!

And the ganja is cheap too!!!

i am shocked how you praise the corruption of the police. the corruption is a very big problem in many countries and the sufferer are mostly the inhabitants...

i am sorry. the parties are cool for us europeans, the israelians or the americans, ok. but for what? just to have a great time at a place, to consume anything that i want to, and this in a country where many people (most childrens) are dying, or are crippled for their lifetime because of land mines?

for me its a kind of decadence. mean: "here in my country i am a nobody, but there i am the king. and all this just with some small change"

i know, perhaps I dont make friends with my opinion, and my text is not a personal attack to somebody in here but just an anti-pole... please just think one second about it. thank you.

sorry, die parties sind vielleicht für uns europäer, die israelis, oder für die amerikaner cool. und für was? nur um eine geile party zu haben, alles zu konsumieren was ich will und das an einem ort, wo noch viele menschen (vorallem kinder) durch landminen sterben, oder ihr leben als krüppel meistern müssen?

i didnt wanna praise corruption, i just pointed out that in this country its easier to organize a party because you dont have this problem with the police.
And sorry, i understand your point, but you find corruption in every country in the world...even in the so called first world countries like Switzerland and Germany. The level of corruption is just different. In Cambodia its only small amounts, but look in our countries: its millions of euros!
And by the way, in all the South Asian Countrys you have corruption.
You shouldnt treat it with an ethnocentristic perspective. Its normal for these cultures and i am not the guy judging a different culture just because they have a slightly different way of legal matters.
Besides, look at your own country: alot of people get jobs in a company because their fathers worked there or what ever. What i want to point out is, that corruption is everywhere, not only in Cambodia.
And besides, i know what kind of poor country Cambodia is; but so is India, so is Nepal, so is Brazil....So, shouldnt i travel to these countrys anymore because they are poor?
I think honestly its good for these countries if tourists come there, because they bring money with them, and in the end the society becomes wealthier because of that. Look at Thailand, you see, the country was 20 years ago a so called third world country, now its an emerging nation on the way to first world country.
You re right about the shocking effects and remains of the civil war led by the khmer rouge, i saw as well many people crippled and suffering. And for sure this is not good, but i prefer to travel these countries and spend some money there insead of watching telly and thinking "oh these poor people";
Because then they can improve financelly, and man just imagine, when there are more tourists, the pressure on the government is a lot bigger to get rid of all those mines...
10 years ago you had the area of Angkor covered with mines and far more people got injured and killed than in our days....Thanx to the tourists...
Anyway, i am not a big fan of mass tourism, but you cant refuse to see all the positive effects on their society.

it's half true!!!

some of the local goan people don't like it, some, but very less, thai-people don't like parties from the western people, but the most there are happy, that we travel to their country and give money to them... the most in india they are so poor, they can just live from the tourist!!!

thai-people are diffrent: THEY LOVE PAAAAAARTY!!!

it's true, thais are great, but something is diffrent, the love more the small reggea-beachparties, not the big trancefestivals!!! thai people are self very craaazy with alcohol and drugs, because that start the war of drug for some years ago in thailand! not only because so many tourist came to this country to take drugs, specially because the thais tooook soooo many drugs as well and that almost legal... no it's over that fun!

but anyway, this is a very difficult and hard theme, what you are talking about!!! i talked a lot with locals in asia about this and not the locals don't like it, that tourists comes and destroy their county, they are just happy about it, that they could make many with us and have finally a job.... (the give a fuck to the nature - hm, not very nice, but true)

Us goapeoples are often more hypocrites then others in many things....

For sooo many years partys were done thanks to corruption... and local population didn't like, but is from there that come our partys....

When we do an outdoor and we disturd people living near.... they don't like, but we still do the party....
